The leader, Ghassan Khoury was great on his Renault Clio R3, winning 3 out of 3 Rallies. Unfortunately, and due maybe to a lack of sponsors, Khoury didn’t participate to any Hill Climbs letting down some points. He impressed particularly in the last Cedars Rally finishing more than one minute in front. To secure the title, he must finish at least in front of Aaraj and not lose ground on Bou Hamdan.

As we told previously on the article concerning the GrN, Rally of Lebanon 2012 will surely witness big fights. One of them will be in the FWD category or Class 5, where everything will be played. 3 drivers never let each other during the whole season but now it is the time to declare one of them FWD champion.

Khoury is leading the championship.

He is followed closely by TGRS driver Robert Aaraj. Aaraj is leading the Hill Climb championship with 3 wins out of 3. But he was delivered to epic fights with Bassel Bou Hamdan in Deir el Kamar’s Hill Climb (won for just 0.3 tense of a second) and lost the second place by only 3 seconds in the Cedars Rally. This weekend, Aaraj will try to make profit from his faster Renault Clio R3 Maxi to win for the first time the category championship.

A little bit farther, Bou Hamdan will try to take his chances. As we know, everything can happen in a Rally so if Khoury and Aaraj score 0 point and Bou Hamdan win, the championship will return to him. Bou Hamdan is proving that he can be very quick on a modest Clio RS, as he was leading in the Rallye du Printemps before retiring.

Other drivers on Clio RS will try to play the underdogs, like experienced Hicham el Abiad, Bechara Bechir and Emile Khoueiry.

Stay tuned as soon we will talk about the 1600 and certainly the awaited confrontation between the RRC and R4 cars.
